Looking For Some Place

lyrics

Driving down the road again
Sleeping with one eye open
Pushing my way past another line

Lost track of all the years
That I gave living in fear
Sand it down and taste the knotty pine

And I remember standing at the station
Waiting for my initiation
When you came to me
When you said my name
I could see the little flowers peeking out of the concrete

Everybody knows that you took it well
When the sun turned green and it nearly fell
And for a moment we all embraced and let out a sigh

I’m looking for some place to settle down
Looking for some way to turn this sinking ship around
I want someone strange at the table
To kick my ass out of this stable
Running wild in the desert sun
Flipping quarters seems like fun

I never understood the mission
Seent a couple bad decisions
sticky fingers crossed on the sly
When the hand is reaching out
Through the fog and collective shout
You gotta squint to see who’s turn their backs

And I remember when the towers fell
Needle bursts the bubble we were forced to sell
the confetti the tvs the cobblestone
All so we could buy our souls
back from the devil on a moonlit night
Bought us a drink and made feel all right
Got so drunk that we sold it back
Shaking on heads on the bus ride home
